35 Weeks

So, we are still waiting on our new camera charger to arrive in the mail. But I found a way to post a preggo picture of me. Did you know that cell phones have cameras? They do, so I decided I should use mine. Here I am in all my Shamu-like glory a week and a half ago... I'm 35 weeks today and my med student mentor says I'm bigger and that my belly is lower than it was last week... but this will have to suffice for now (and for what it's worth, we had been walking around San Fran all day, which is why I look like I'm about to fall over and sleep)

Other big 35 week news:

1. I've been having contractions since early Saturday morning. They range from painful and regular, to painless and sporatic, to no feeling what-so-ever. This is they call this "false labor". Baby Boy seems to love it... whenever I'm having a contraction, he wiggles like crazy. And starting this whole "contraction phase" made me realize that it's high-time I hang the nursery curtains and submit my hospital administration paperwork. He's going to be here in just a few weeks!

2. This week's NST went well... it was the first time they really had to work with him to get him moving, but once he was willing to stop being lazy, he was all over the place. And they were able to record 2-3 contractions on paper!!

3. My 35 week appointment today went well. We discussed all the big issues, like when to call L/D with contractions and what pain management looks like after delivery. Did you know they only give you motrin after giving birth?? Sounds cruel to me... I will be requesting whatever I need to keep on top of the pain :) We also talked about the baby's size... they predict he'll be 9 pounds at 40 weeks, to which the resident smiled and said, "that'll be easy-you can do that". If she brings that attitude into the delivery room, I will smack her. And it turns out my contractions have done a bit of work- I'm 1cm dilated!! I have much further to go, and I could stay at 1cm for weeks and weeks, but it's fun to think my body is getting ready.

That's it from here...

They totally only offered motrin after... but it really isn't that bad :) You will do great. Are you thinking about going without an epidural??

And I second ashley, that bed is awesome, I love it!
