His Father's Son

Well, the numbers are in. Baby Boy is bigger than most 34 week babies- and his head is measuring 36 weeks, 6 days (basically 3 weeks ahead of schedule). So, he's healthy and big- and everything else is looking great, too. I can't wait to meet mini-Matt in a few weeks!

He weighs 5 pounds, 12 ounces (and there are 16 ounces in a pound...) and should gain about 1/2 pound every week from here on out. So, if he goes to 40 weeks, he'll be close to 10 pounds at birth. Awesome. Who's jealous??

The weirdest thing about these tests is that they are somewhat inaccurate. They say there's a 1 pound error rate, so he could be anywhere from 4 pounds, 12 ounces to 6 pounds, 12 ounces, which is a big window, if you ask me. If he's on the lighter end of this spectrum, he's doing just right for his gestational age. But if he's on the heavier end of this spectrum, we got one chunky baby coming our way!

What does this all mean?? Not much... unless you're in the top or bottom 10% of size, they consider you "normal". I talk with my dr about the results next week, so hopefully she'll have some insight on how to best handle his size and if we should induce at a certain gestational age, or not. I'm hoping she won't let me go past 39 weeks- but maybe we'll get lucky and Baby Boy will come on his own before then!

Sadly, we don't have any photos since he was hiding his face with his hands (my mom says he's shy and hiding because he's naked...). And, I would post a preggo picture of me, but we have lost our camera charger and our camera is out of battery. But don't worry, our replacement should be here soon!
