36 Weeks

We're 36 weeks today... only a few weeks left. Baby looked great on the non-stress test; we got one contraction and he was moving off the charts- to the point where I was embarrassed to be in the PDC. He's happy and healthy, though I think he's running out of room. The check-out lady at Trader Joe's told me it looked like the bun was going to burst out of my oven... the check-in desk at the hospital asked if I was going to the PDC or L/D... yeah, it's getting tight in there. And if you look at our photos on facebook, you'll see that in every one from the past week I look like I'm going to eat an entire goat. It's time to get him out and start life as a family.

At the end of my appt, the doctor reminded me to get my bags packed. I joked that I would but they're just going to sit there until late June when the baby finally decides he's ready. Apparently, my dr doesn't agree. Because he's so big, I'm dilated, and having on-and-off contractions (and we have a rock-solid conception date so we know he's physically ready), she said she wouldn't surprised at all if he came at 37 weeks.

So, you do the math. In my mind, 37-36 is one week. And all I can say to that is, "holy crap". I guess I should get some curtain rods for his room and then maybe hang them. I guess we should move the dining table out of the nursery. I guess I should check to see if we even have any 0-3 month white onesies. I guess I should drive the 2 miles to ikea to actually get his nursery rug. I guess I should actually finish his burp cloths so that he has more than 3 when he gets here... mama needs to get busy. Oh, and that hospital admission paperwork should probably get in the mail today.

Of course, we all know how this really works. I'm going to get all organized and ready by Monday night (yea for 3-day-weekends!) and then he's going to take his sweet time. But still, it would be nice if I could walk into the nursery without stepping over junk all of the time.

Holy crap woman, pack your bag! Don't worry about the other stuff - that's what husbands and relatives are for! Does he really need a rug? He won't be walking for like a year... you'll be fine :)
