Stuck

There's nothing like keeping-up a blog to realize how boring and lame you are. We simply have nothing to share. There is nothing exciting going on. None of our rooms are done... they'll be in progress until April or May. We spend all of our spare time cleaning, organizing, getting ready for baby, (and making fake torches). It's nesting at it's finest. Some of the more specific things we've been doing through include:

  • Finding a baby photographer. We were incredibly spoiled with the talent of wedding photographer, so finding an equally talented baby photographer at a decent price who will also provide digital copies of photos is very difficult. One photographer quoted me $3000 (yes, three thousand dollars) for 20 digital images. Getting digital images is super important to us; our gorgeous wedding photos sit in a box and we don't want the same thing happening to our son's photos. Another photographer who does gorgeous work charges $2250 for an hour of talent. By the time we'd pay for all of the sessions, editing, proofs, and digital images we would be spending more on photographing our baby's first year of life than we did to conceive him. Thankfully, I think I've found someone talented who charges decent prices AND has an option for digital images. I meet with her in 2 weeks to see if we'll work well together.
  • Solidifying the nursery. When we had it painted, the painters thought we wanted he ceiling painted the same color green as the walls (I don't know why...). But with that fifth wall painted, the whole coloring is off and I don't know if it's the actual green that's wrong for the room or if we just need to repaint the ceiling, so I'm having a woman who specializes in interior paint colors come over on Friday to help me. Matt says I get one more shot to get the right paint on the walls... I need to make sure it's perfect! We've also finally decided on a crib, changing table/dresser, book shelf, and rocker/ottoman. I just need to pick out a rug and find a local (decently priced) artist to do some custom art work for us; we're thinking the big sisters (aka: Hula and Gerdy) deserve their own little piece of love in the nursery, too.
  • Getting rid of extras!! Because we had to move so quickly and because I was so incapacitated in the early stages of a high-risk pregnancy, we didn't have time to sort through our stuff before we left Long Island. So we're trying to get through it all now. We've replaced everything we're doing to store in the garage from worn-out, card-board boxes to sturdy, plastic ones. We've made several LARGE trips to Goodwill and are currently getting rid of books/DVDs via online sellers. We're also going to list our extra furniture on Craigslist this weekend and have an appraiser coming out to look at our nice stuff on Monday.
So that's life at the Franck home right now... thrilling, isn't it??

Oh Amy!!! I think you are in the nesting stage!!! Soon life will feel so full that you'll miss these days! Also -- after reading this, I thought how crazy would it be to paint Mikey's portrait in our future nursery!!! That would send a kid straight to the psychologist!!!!

Sounds like fun times, where did you get your furniture from?
