The Pregnancy Thus Far

Since sharing our baby news on Wednesday, we received lots of "Congratulations!" and also lots of questions.  Here's a quick attempt to provide some answers:

How are you (Amy) feeling? Fine!  The first few weeks were a little rough, but that was due to the IVF hormone drugs that were still in my systems mixing with early pregnancy hormones. Other than that, I've just been tired and a bit moody.  Oh- and hungry, especially in the morning.

Are you going to find out what you're having? Yes!  We should know in the next month or two.

Have you had an ultrasound, yet?  Yep- five of them (one of the benefits of doing IVF is that you get ultrasounds on a weekly basis starting at week 5).  We had one ultrasound that showed the baby moving like crazy! My last one (on Wednesday) showed the baby fast asleep- it wouldn't wake up no matter what we tried!  This is totally normal, and I'm hoping it means we have a sound sleeper :)  Our next ultrasound is on Monday.

Are you gaining weight, yet? I supposed it's ok to ask a pregnant lady this... yes, I've gained some weight and have started showing.  I'm in maternity cloths about half of the time.

Do you have any food cravings?  Nothing specific, but I gravitate towards warm, high calorie, high protein food which I guess is very normal for pregnant ladies.  The past few days I've found myself eating a good amount of green apples. Does that count?

How many kids are you going to have? Um, no idea.  We're going to take it one kid at a time :)

Are you bummed you don't have twins? IVF (as with any fertility treatment) carries with it a higher risk of multiples.  For this IVF cycle, we transferred three "perfect" embryos and only one took.  Sure, we wonder what happened to the other two and feel a loss for them.  But we feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant at all and don't feel like we got cheated in any way.

We're always happy to talk about our life trying to get pregnant... feel free to ask away.  Thanks to everyone for their excitement and encouragement!!!
