Detours and Fog = Way behind schedule

Hello again,

Had another tough day. We ran into a frustrating detour before leaving Virginia. We drove 20 miles down an interstate, only to find that the road was closed and the detour included 20 miles in the previous direction, and then a 60 mile trek north before we were able to head west again. All told, it probably cost us 2 hours.

We also ran into some pretty brutal fog in Tennessee, literally could not see more than 30 feet ahead and had to slow down to about half speed.

James had a pretty frustrating day, as his possessions, which were supposed to be shipped home via UPS, are still stuck in New York City awaiting pickup.

We are hoping for a better day today. We stopped early last night, about 250 miles short of our destination in Arkadelphia, Arkansas (I am pretty devastated as I was looking forward to staying there).

The good news is we are getting an early start this morning, and are in very good shape to reach our original destination of Odessa, Texas, on time.

Here are a couple pictures:

We were unable to fit everything in the back of the truck, which left the cabin pretty stuffed at the start of the trip. To be safe, we shipped two of the bigger items today (this picture was before shipping) and are breathing a little easier.

Our typical overnight parking job. We try to back the truck up to any available wall to prevent any break-ins.

Morning in Tennessee
