A Peek Into Our Relationship

A conversation we had this week (Matt in blue, Amy in pink):

Amy: I really want to get a wonderful baby photographer.
Matt: Oh- do you want to get a picture of the baby in a banana?
Amy: What?
Matt: You know, put the baby in a banana and take a picture?
Amy: No.
Matt: Not a real banana, but a costume that peels down on the sides and front?
Amy: No.
Matt: And the baby could be like, "ahhhh" in the banana...
Amy: No.
Matt: Awwwe, it'd be so cute in the banana.
Amy: No.
Matt: And for Halloween, our baby could be a banana.
Amy: No.

So, it was settled- no banana costume. But- we did get a first little outfit for our son/daughter.

It's a 3-piece outfit... not crazy about the ducks. They are not quack-tastic.

We liked the onsie...

I LOVE HUGS!!!

I was surprised at how few gender neutral outfits there were (they're basically feminine boys' clothing). It seemed like there were a lot more when I had friends who (purposely) didn't know what they were having. But we liked this set mostly because of the "I Love Hugs" onesie. It's such a needy and sweet message for a baby. And the ducks?? Well, they're ok... not really sure how they match the adorable onesie. But, it beats a banana costume.

i LOVE the onesie too. and it is VERY hard to find gender neutral stuff. it seems like there is plenty but then you imagine it on a boy it it starts looking veeeeery girly. i hate that we have been programmed to judge masculinity/femininty on clothing colors. nothing is inherently more vaginal about purple versus navy blue and yet i cant dresss judah in violet, i just cant!

i agree- gender neutral stuff is more 'feminine'....
gymboree and baby gap and janie and jack are normally better with gender neutral...but you'll know soon!!!
