Saturday at the Francks
Some of our friends have done cute blog entries about a day in the life with the toddlers/babies. So, we decided to join the club (sans baby or toddler). It's a bit long... so get comfy. Here is a day in the life of Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Franck:
G-R-O-S-S.
8:30am: Walk down the street to a yard sale... looking for planting pots and a garbage can for the office. Find a Spiderman garbage. Matt lays out a 5-point-plan on why Spidey should be in the office. Amy says no. Matt throws a tantrum on our neighbors front lawn. We walk home empty handed.
9am: Check the water... it's normal again. Breakfast (English muffins, OJ, coffee/tea). Amy starts Sour Cream Banana Bread and Matt starts working on his thesis. The first bee of the season hits our kitchen window twice and Matt starts collecting his bee-killing arsenal for the summer (bee spray, SUV with windows that open, protective clothing, bucket, H2O, firewood gloves, water balloons, smoke bombs, fire crackers, rocks, 2 first aid kits- big ones).
9:30am: Banana bread is in the oven and the dishwasher is started. Amy starts blogging (it's currently 9:44am) and continues the laundry she started last night.
10am: Chocolate chip cookie time! Matt is hard at work on his thesis, after doing the robot to "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing".
11am: Banana Bread = Done and looking great. Cookies = Done and looking great. Dishes = Done and looking great. Matt = Not done with his thesis, but still looking great.
11:30am: Apple Bread is in the oven, but Amy is not confident in it... should be interesting bread. Matt changes the lyrics to "My Heart Will Go On" to "My Heart Has Cheese". Amy starts unloading the dishwasher and vacuuming. Work on the thesis continues.
Noon: Apple Bread continues to bake and look sketchy. Amy gets the mail; Geico bill, radiology co-pay bill, and the UW Alum bill (Matt has decided to become a lifetime member- he is thrilled to be a forever Husky).
12:30pm: Amy is paying bills/rent and catches up on all that "stuff" that needs to be done before Disney. Matt keeps reading, reading, and reading. Amy heats up lunch and we open the windows to enjoy the 71 degrees of goodness outside!
1pm: The apple bread emerges from the oven and it actually looks decent. Our neighbor across the street starts moving her lawn and Matt laughs are her small, old lawn mower. He then realizes that it's one of those new, fancy electric ones: foot-in-mouth. Amy starts on the Snickerdoodles (Matt's favorite).
2pm: Amy is DONE WITH BAKING; Matt is not done with thesis, but presses on towards the goal. Our electric-mower neighbor brings out a gas-powered mower. We're guessing she ran over the cord. But she, like Matt, keeps working towards her goal. Matt comments, "Look how nice their lawn is when they cut the grass." Amy hopes Matt realizes that if he mowed our grass, it would be nice, too :) Our neighbor now emerges with an electric weed-whacker. How long will this last? Amy starts cleaning the foyer and bathroom.
3pm: Matt goes running and Amy leaves for the nail salon.
4pm: We're both home. Matt finally found the dunes on his run and took about 20 pictures of himself on them. Amy's nail person was male and had hairy hands. Yuck. Matt thinks Amy's toenails look like the color of Disney (they're pink). Matt does yoga and starts to pull his packing, and Amy starts sorting and organizing the never ending clutter. In 21 hours, we will be in Florida!!!
5pm: Gotta call from friends; we're now meeting for dinner and Amy doesn't have to cook- yea! Matt and Amy regroup for the night. Matt starts packing and Amy starts telling him how to do it. Amy stops the bossiness (bad Amy!) and sticks to her cleaning. Starting to tackle the bedroom.
6pm: Matt is moving pics from June 2008 to the computer so that we have a memory card for our trip (read: we will be filling our blog with hundreds of pictures from Disney World. You are so, so lucky). Amy is putting the finishing touches on packing and getting ready for dinner.
The rest of our night is pretty helter-skelter form here... we're meeting Ashley and Sam for fondue (we are so, so lucky) and then Matt will be writing his thesis while Amy makes sure that all of the loose ends are tied together for our trip.
See you when we get back!!
yeah, fondue was pretty awesome - not sure if it will warrant a blog entry from Ashley - we'll see :-)
hope you guys have a great time at Disney - see you soon!
